Washington Photo Safari is the DC area’s leading provider of photography training field trips. They offer 125 unique itineraries, with 3-4 half-day and full-day photo Safaris every week, all year long, to people at any skill level with any kind of camera, film or digital. It’s a really fun thing to do if you visit Washington DC.

We began this project in 2005. This site was in desperate need of a makeover. The existing site used frames, had no intuitive navigation and was heavy on text and light on photos. They had online event registration method, but it was cumbersome at best and not many of their customers used it.

We gave them a fun postcard look for the home page, complete with their own custom postage stamp. We also gave them something they really needed: an event calendar. The calendar is the heart of the site, as it lists all the Safaris at a glance and provides additional detail and a link to register online.

The day the site went live, they reported they were already gettting online registrations and rave reviews about the new look.

Here is what they said in 2005:

“You have a rare blend of an artist’s eye for web design and a Wall Street gut for business. You knocked it out of the park for us. We predicted a return on our investment of 6-12 months for this website facelift. It took just 30 days. Yee haa!!”

In 2010, we embarked on a total upgrade. We put this site into a proper content management system. The third-party calendar and event registration system had served this client well for 5 years, but they had outgrown them as their business grew. We manage the calendar and ecommerce all on the their site now, making maintenance and reporting much more efficient. We created a fresh new look and streamlined the reservation process.
